# The End of National Currency .
Tur att det finns några som förstår hur dollar fungerar ,
Från din artikel:
The United States can run a chronic balance-of-payments deficit and never feel the effects. Dollars sent abroad immediately come home in the form of loans.
Jag skulle snarare säga MUST come home in form of loans.

These bears see financial Armageddon around every corner. What would happen if they are right?
"When we talk about money, we talk about the supply of money," he says. "What we don't talk about and what in my mind is even more important is the demand for money. Currency crises start with a collapse in demand, he says. If people lose faith in the currency for whatever reasons --either they don't trust the backing or there's not enough gold backing the currency, or they don't trust the government and its policy to maintain a stable purchasing power or to keep the currency strong so it can be used as an effective means for communicating value in everyday commerce-- they move away into other alternatives."

Wolfowitz Faces Showdown with World Bank Board
World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz was planning to attend, but he may, or may not have a job after today's World Bank meetings, reports NPR.
According to board sources, 13 of the 24 directors would have to vote against Wolfowitz ? and against the Bush administration ? in order to force him out.

Märkligt om han inte får sparken...
The headline says "Wolfowitz seeks deal for World Bank exit"
Wolfowitz has steered the bank for nearly two years. On Tuesday he pleaded with directors to let him stay on the job, in which he has made fighting corruption a priority.
"I have said I am not without fault in the matter," Wolfowitz said of the scandal surrounding Riza, who ended up earning almost 200,000 dollars a year when she was transferred to the State Department, still on the World Bank`s payroll.
"I implore each of you to be fair in making your decision, because your decision will not only affect my life, it will affect how this institution is viewed in the United States and the world," he said.

Wolfowitz Resigns as World Bank Chief; U.S. to Name Successor
``Any institution that goes through a process like this is damaged,'' said Edwin Truman, a fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington and a former assistant Treasury secretary. ``It's in their interest to move quickly to get this all behind them.''
Paulson said he will consult with overseas governments as he picks candidates to be considered by President George W. Bush. The U.S. has always picked the bank president, while the head of the International Monetary Fund is a European.

G-8 Says `Volatile' Oil Prices Pose Risk to Growth
Steinbrueck said he's optimistic that the global economy is becoming less dependent on the U.S. for growth and is less at risk from lopsided flows in trade and investment.
Global imbalances ``aren't our main concern at the moment because we're dealing with an excellent economic development,'' he said in an interview. ``We're not underestimating certain risks, but they're not as important today as they were two or three years ago.''

Mexico's economy puts on brakes
Its slower GDP growth rate is caused partly by U.S. automakers' woes.
A slowing U.S. economy is weakening demand for Mexican goods in the U.S., the destination for 80% of Mexico's exports.

"If you don't have that information or that knowledge you're likely to lose your money," says Andy Poon, a spokesperson for the B.C. stocks regulator.

Swedish Town Learns Chinese, Clawing Back Jobs Lost to the East
Learning Swedish Ways
Chinese businesses are expanding abroad as competition at home increases and the government urges companies to make investments overseas. China's economy grew 11.1 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier.
At times, that push outward has been controversial. Swedish TV reported in March that Chinese workers building the center hadn't been paid the salaries agreed upon with the Swedish workers union, prompting threats to block the project. Luo, in a statement released by the city, promised to respect local wage rules.
``Fanerdun is a new company in Sweden and like a new-born child is learning about the Swedish system,'' he said.
