Inte nödvändigt... det har inträffat många gånger att marknaden går upp på negativa nyheter för majoritet trodde på en nedgång och ner vid positiva nyheter för majorietet nu andas ut och tror att det eknomiska bilden är inte så negativ...

According to the Stock Trader?s Almanac, April is the best month for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, with an average gain of 1.8% in the last 58 years.
It ranks as the fourth-best calendar month for the S&P 500, meanwhile, with an average gain of 1.3% ? but the index has increased in 39 of the 58 years, compared with 36 positive years on the Dow.
Almanac authors Jeffrey Hirsh and Yale Hirsh also note that April is "rarely" a dangerous month, except when the market is on the precipice (or in) bear markets, such as 2000 and 2002, when the average lost 1.7% and 4.4%, respectively.
The average dropped in 2004 and 2005 as well, but in 2007, rose 5.7%, the best one-month performance for stocks since the end of 2003.

#53 Enligt min uppfattning använder man NH/NL så här:
En längre stigande trend bör medföra att NH stiger eller åtminstone ligger kvar på hög nivå. Om den divergerar är det negativt.
Tvärtom med NL i fallande trend, dvs det är postivt om NL divergerar mot den fallande trenden.
Man bör alltså inte titta på NH nu så här nära botten utan istället på NL och dom var mycket lägre vid senaste botten jämfört med näst senaste. Alltså postivt på medellång sikt.

New lows och new high är för mig kampen mellan bull och bear.
Att new lows forstätter sjunka tolkar jag att bear börjar tappa markt.. eller dem avvakta för det som skall komma.
The bull har tagit över lite men dem forsätter visa svaghet...
För new att lows forstätter ligga på så låga nivåer måste the new highs stiga för att övertyga dem som sitter utanför att gå in som köpare...

Man måste tänka på vad 52 week highs och lows innebär. För att en aktie ska få en ny 52 week high måste den upp över sin senaste topp.
Hur många New highs man får beror då på 2 faktorer, dels hur hög korrelationen är mellan aktierna och indexet samt hur indexet i sig rör sig.
Om man hade haft 100% korrelation mellan aktierna och indexet (dvs all aktier rörde sig exact som indexet) så skulle NH vara 0 under en nedgång ända fram till indexet (och därmed alla aktier) bröt tidigare topp då vi skulle få 100% New highs dvs. 500 st för SPX.
Nu är ju inte korrelationen 100% och den varierar också, det är ju där vi talar om hur bra bredden är, dvs hur många aktier som drar uppåt.
Men det andra som påverkar NH är hur långt vi är från senaste topp. Dvs hur långt vi gått ner. Vid små nedgångar så stiger NH snabbare, helt enkelt för att många aktier inte har så långt upp till sina tidigare toppar, medan vid stora nedgångar så har aktierna långt upp till sina tidigare topper och det kan ta lång tid innan dom bryter tex 100 nivån.
Nivån på NH är därför rätt orelevant när vi är så här långt från senaste topp. man kan dra lite slutsatser när man tittar på hur NH ligger jämfört med små toppar runt bottnar, dvs finns det negativa eller positiva divergenser (då måste dock senste lilla topp vara högre än den tidigare). Annars säger inte NH ett jota just nu.
Samma gäller NL, indexet har stigit från senaste low. Således ska NL vara väldigt låga, och det är först vid nya index lows vi ev kan se positiva divergenser.
Där vi ligger nu med indexen kan man i princip bara säga följande:
Låga NH säger ingenting, det är helt normalt och ger ingen indikation om styrkan. Kraftig ökande NH hade däremot varit en kraftigt bullig signal om det hade skett nu, för det hade varit väldigt oväntat att det skulle ske så tidigt. Divergenser gentemot tidigare små toppar under bottenformationer kan också tolkas positivt.
Låga NL säger ingenting, för det är också helt normalt. Däremot hade en ökning i new lows som gett divergens mot tidigare indexnivå varit en negativ signal, för det hade visat att allt fler aktier på nytt hade fallit ner under tidigare botten.
Mesta nyttan med NH och NL är vid divergenser mellan toppar eller mellan bottnar, däremellan är det bara om dom utvecklar sig avvikande och ger divergenser mot tidigare nivåer som dom säger något. Nivån i sig säger rätt lite.

Institutional Buying and Selling is a major factor for what happens to the broad indexes.
The chart below shows the "Net" amount between Buying and Selling by Institutions. At the close on Friday, the Net was positive. However, unlike previous moves, this pattern is showing a sideways range with no new highs being made.
The action on the Net amount doesn't show one important factor ... that Institutional Buying has been dropping while Institutional Selling has been dropping. By their reduction in selling, Institutions have created an environment where smaller investors can drive the market up without Institutional assistance. The red flag right now is ... "Why are Institutions reducing their buying when smaller investors are wanting to jump in?".

The Obama Sell-Off?
There have been claims made by some that the rush of selling that hit the market in the afternoon came through when the Associated Press reported that Illinois Senator Barack Obama has enough delegates to claim the Democratic nomination for president.
Strategist Al Goldman, of Wachovia Securities, said the market seemed to be treating Mr. Obama as a relative unknown compared to his longer-serving rivals from the Senate, Hillary Rodham Clinton and John McCain. "Now, I don?t know whether he would be good, bad, or indifferent as president, but this uncertainty is what the market seems to be focusing on for now," said Mr. Goldman.
But it?s not as if the AP?s news about Mr. Obama is any kind of surprise. The Intrade markets, which track trading in political futures, show that Mr. Obama?s been expected to be the nominee for some time - his odds have hovered above 90% since mid-May, as the accompanying chart shows.
"You don?t get to cherry-pick the period that supports your hopes, views or wants and ignore everything else," says Barry Ritholtz, chief market strategist at Fusion IQ. "How do you explain the market rallying from January to February, when his chances went from non-existent to when he became the front-runner?"
More likely, the turmoil surrounding Lehman Brothers (shares are another down 8% today), along with chatter that the company may have accessed the Federal Reserve?s Primary Dealer Credit Facility, was responsible for the market?s downturn. Several traders commented that the weakness in financial stocks ? and concurrent concerns about the economy ? increased the pace of selling in the market. Lehman denied these rumors to CNBC, but that hasn?t stopped the selling.
Meanwhile, as the summer approaches, and earnings season dies down in August, the silly season of political rumor will undoubtedly heat up. Multitudes of charts will be produced by strategists about how markets perform in one party?s administration vs. another (and MarketBeat will likely reproduce a few). But Mr. Ritholtz points out that any policy made by the next president ? currently unknown, of course ? probably wouldn?t impact the economy until late 2009. He adds that the market has recovered from its lows ? but that?s not an endorsement of Mr. Obama, either.
"These pronouncements from people reveal far more about their beliefs than what?s happening in the market," he says.

My PTI was down 6 today to 5910. Moving average was 5931. PTI remains bearish by a large 20 points!
What do we do? Where do we go? Put your money in T-bills and await the coming next great buying opportunity with good stocks scraping the bottom.
The stock market is now in full crash mode, and where it ends nobody knows.
In the meantime, the US balance-of-payments continues in negative shape. As I've written so many times, we're a global empire living on borrowed money.
Our goofy president insults our biggest creditors -- Russia and China -- and seems totally oblivious of the situation.
No empire can continue afloat while borrowing money to do so. At some point, nobody will lend the US money, at which point the empire starts to unravel. The dollar plunges, the US becomes a paper tiger. The all-important reserve status disappears.
I'd like subscribers to get rid of all non-bullion gold items and build cash. Sell GDX, SLV, XAU, HUI, and get flush with cash for the bargains that lie ahead as this market moves towards its inevitable final low.

Tyvärr har jag ingen uppfattning om vart det skall men det lär väl visa sig på graferna när/om vi kommer dit. 1200 känns i alla fall som en stor magnet just nu, när vi var så nära i fredags.
Vill också passa på att tacka dig för dina alster och länkar, minns att du tidigt stack ut hakan gällande kommande nedgångar och hittils har du haft många rätt ! Det svåra är ju sen att tajma det i den praktiska tradingen, men det är en annan femma.

Terminen i SPX var i morse endast 8p från ditt mål och låt oss hoppas att det stannar i dessa krokar?
Fantastiskt bra gjort att vara så konsekvent under en så lång tid. Samt att du hade nog inte många som trodde på dig de första gångerna du skrev om dina långsiktiga mål, jag var en av de tvekande :-)
Måste erkänna att det gått mycket fortare än jag kunnat föreställa mig i min vildaste fantasi, det är bara min utarbetade strategi och diciplin som räddat mig från massa onödiga köp. Har gjort två köp sedan 1260 men känner att i dag är det dags för lite fiske igen !
Ironiskt nog blankade jag på 1220 den där torsdagen där nyheten om "Finanspaketet" kom. Blev utstoppad på fredagen och sedan dess har det bara gått utför, thats life !
Lycka till i framtiden och kom gärna med nya mål, det är alltid kul att spekulera även om det är här och nu man måste ta besluten hela tiden.

Och det viktigaste att man vill ha en bra grund för att köpa... och just nu så finns det tyvärr inga...

#205 Om börsraset fortsätter direkt ner härifrån kommer inte 6300 att räcka. Jag tänker mig att målet ska nås först i maj 2011, men då måste det snart bli en hyfsat solid botten.
btw så är den här strängen synnerligen minnesvärd, men både den och din sign är förbrukade nu ;-)
Men grattis igen. Med hårt arbete har du lyckats pressa ner SPX ända till målet ;-)

Jag började ta upp målet på allvar från september 2007.
jag kommer ihåg att aldur frågade mig om mitt nick runt juni 2007 och då svarade jag... att spx kommer att falla mot 970 och då var jag fortfarande lite positiv till börsen...
Nu är det historia,,, nya mål kommer...
