STOCKHOLM (Direkt) Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)
sänker sin prognos för intäkterna i det första kvartalet mot
bakgrund av en svagare försäljning, "inom alla
affärssegment", framgår det av ett pressmeddelande.

AMD räknar nu med att intäkterna hamnar kring 1,5
miljarder dollar för kvartalet, 22 procent lägre jämfört med
samma tid i fjol och 15 lägre jämfört med fjärde kvartalet
2007.

Analytikerna hade i genomsnitt räknat med intäkter på
1,63 miljarder dollar i det första kvartalet.

AMD kommer nu att minska jobbstyrkan med 10 procent
och därigenom ta en engångskostnad, som inte anges.

AMD ska i dagsläget ha 16.000 anställda.

Ikea Slows Expansion as Sales Weaken, Dahlvig Says

April 9 (Bloomberg) -- Ikea, the world's largest home- furnishings retailer, is expanding at a ``much lower'' pace as a global economic slowdown erodes sales, Chief Executive Officer Anders Dahlvig said today. 

Closely held Ikea, which has stores in 37 countries, is being affected ``quite a lot'' by slowing economies, Dahlvig said in a presentation at a retail conference in Barcelona, Spain.

Capital investment in coming years will be mainly in emerging markets such as Croatia, Slovenia and Ukraine, the CEO said. Spending power is ebbing in Europe and the U.S. as inflation rises and higher energy and food bills sap incomes, while sliding stock markets weigh on consumer confidence.

``I definitely see big challenges in the western world and opportunities in emerging markets,'' Dahlvig said

GE Says Profit Fell, Citing Finance; Forecast Reduced

General Electric Co. reported its first decline in quarterly profit since 2003, missing analyst estimates with a 12 percent drop in earnings as a freeze-up in credit markets blocked asset sales and forced it to write down the value of investments.

The world's third-largest company by market value fell as much as 11 percent, the most since 1987, in early New York trading after GE also cut the full-year forecast that Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Immelt had once told investors was ``in the bag'' for 2008.

``We hate disappointing investors,'' Immelt said in an interview on the company-owned CNBC television network. ``It's not part of the company. It's not part of the culture. We take accountability for that.''

amerikanska konsumenterna sjönk till 63,2 i april jämfört med
69,5 i mars.

Det framgår av preliminära siffror på fredagen.

Analytiker hade väntat sig en nedgång till 69,0
enligt en enkät från Bloomberg News.

Undersökningen visar vidare att konsumenterna väntar
en inflationstakt på 4,8 procent på ett års sikt, jämfört med
4,3 procent i mars.

På fem års sikt väntar konsumenterna en
inflationstakt på 3,1 procent, jämfört med 2,9 procent i

April 11 (Bloomberg) -- Washington Mutual Inc.'s full-year loss will be wider than first estimated, according to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. analysts, who recommended selling the shares short.

Washington Mutual, the biggest U.S. savings and loan, may lose $3.30 a share this year, said Goldman Sachs analysts including New York-based James Fotheringham in a note to investors today. Goldman previously forecast a 2008 loss of $1 a share for the Seattle-based company.
